Italian confectionery giant Ferrero has run a pro-palm oil campaign in Italian TV, print and online. The TV ad was run in November 2016. Vincenzo Tapella, purchasing manager at Ferrero said that the palm oil Ferrero uses in it´s main brand Nutella is safe, sustainable and processed under controlled temperatures. The company told Foodnavigator that the ad was launched on the occasion of Ferrero´s 70th anniversary. The company faces an unfair smear campaign against the usage of palm oil.
