Ritter reaches its sustainability goals faster

German chocolate manufacturer Alfred Ritter (Ritter Sport) announced to reach full sustainability on the cocoa sourcing side until 2020 maybe earlier. With Cacao-Nica Ritter is running a sustainability programme in Nicaragua since 1990. In 2017 3,500 farmers are connected to this programme. In the eastern region of Nicaragua Ritter builds its own cocoa farm containing 2,500 ha space. In 2017 the farm will produce its first cocoa. Until 2025 Ritter expects to receive 30 % of its cocoa demand from the Nicaraguan farm.
