“Palm Done Right” is a new standard for organic palm oil developed by Natural Habitats in 2013. The company certified about 10,000 mt in Sierra Leone and Ecuador and wants to expand their certification programme.
US chocolate giants join calorie promise
Ferrero, Mars, Nestlé, Lindt, Ferrara Candy and Hershey´s have signed a commitment to reduce the amount of calories of their individually wrapped products to under 200 kcal by 2022. Reformulation and smaller portion sizes will have to solve the problem. The companies also decided to print the calorie information on 90% of their products.
Olam announced to increase sustainable cocoa source
Olam Cocoa has announced to increase its volume of sustainable sourced cocoa by 20% in 2018 and reach 100% by 2020. Olam runs its own farmer support programme called Olam Livelihood Charter (OLC). The company also cooperates with Rainforest Alliance, Fair Trade International and UTZ.
